PHT is pleased to offer you a variety of services. We have have camps, specialized player specific camps, power skating sessions, skills and shots sessions. We also offer private lessons, semi-private lessons, team sessions, coach consultations, practice planning seminars and video teaching. We have all the tools to make any hockey player, coach or hockey association the best they can be.

Tyler Ertel - Owner

Tyler Ertel has been involved in hockey his whole life. He is a graduate of Kitchener Minor Hockey where he was fortunate enough to be on numerous championship teams. He was a leader on all of these teams which allowed him to be drafted by the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League as an underage player. Tyler went on to a very successful career in the OHL amassing 273 points, averaging over a point per game, during his tenure. This success led to Tyler being drafted to the National Hockey League by the Vancouver Canucks in 1990 and later going to the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.

While enjoying his time in professional hockey, Tyler made a decision to pursue his post-secondary education. He attended the University of Prince Edward Island where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree while playing CIS hockey at the same time. He was a two-time Academic All-Canadian while being a point producer for the MacAdam Division champion PEI Panthers. Tyler then moved on to the University of Western Ontario where he received his Bachelor of Education degree while making the Honour Roll and Dean's List. He is presently in his 12th year as a Secondary School teacher in Kitchener Ontario.

Tyler is presently a member of the Executive for New Hamburg Minor Hockey while also volunteering his time to coach minor hockey teams for over 11 years in the Tri-City area. He also coached at various levels of Junior hockey. He has won All-Ontario championships, Silver Stick Championships and numerous prestigious tournaments as a head coach of these teams. His knowledge and love of the game has been responsible for orchestrating and implementing some of the highest quality hockey programs in the area. He plans to do this and more with Phase Hockey Training. Tyler is excited to be working with a PHT team that exudes a knowledge, a love and an integrity for the game and for people that can only lead to success for everyone involved. He is excited to be on the ice with kids from all ages to help them achieve their goals through each phase of their development and offer the best hockey training in the area.

Kory Green - Chief Operating Officer

Kory has his NCCP Advanced II certification and 20+ years of coaching and scouting experience 10 of those in the OHA, with the Cambridge Winterhawks, Orangeville Crushers and Guelph Hurricanes. Kory enjoyed his time at in the junior ranks however recognized the bulk of his coaching success at the minor hockey level winning Championships in both the OMHA and Alliance.

Kory is currently Director of Hockey Resources and Coaching for New Hamburg Minor Hockey, he has also been a Coach and Evaluator for the Minor Hockey Alliance Under 17 hockey program. He has trained players such as Kyle Clifford (LA Kings), Taylor Doherty Kingston Frontenac’s (Drafted San Jose Sharks), and Kyle Helms who recently signed a Division 1 contract with Hamburg in Germany. Kory's ability to break down the game and identify specific deficiencies both physical and mental then translate into a development plan have made him a popular instructor with players looking to gain an competitive edge in various phases of their growth as a player.

Mary Alice - Head Power Skating Instructor

Mary Alice has been invloved in teaching and creating Power Skating Programs for over 30 years. Within that time frame she has worked with many of the areas NHL, OHL and University players.

She has also taught privately and for many local hockey schools plus WMHA and KMHA and for many years with the Waterloo Ringette Assoc.. She also was part of the original committee that formed the Can Powere Skate Program for Skate Canada.

Mary Alice is regarded as one of the top Power Skating Instructors in the area and her analytical teaching skills and development programs perfectly compliment the Phase Hockey Training philsophy.

Ryan Black - Head Coach, Green Gloves 1999 Team

Ryan was a 1st Round Draft Pick for the Peterborough Petes, where he won an OHL Championship and was a finalist in the Memorial Cup.

He won two Professional Championships and was a draft pick for the New Jersey Devils. Ryan is in his 6th year of coaching in the Center Wellington Association, during that time his teams have and has been to 4 OMHA Finals and an OHF Championship.

Anne Hunsburger

Anne Hunsberger has been involved with Waterloo Ringette for over thirty years. She played elite level ringette until she was twenty years old, participating in National Championships, and has coached various levels of ringette, including Waterloo Ringette’s learn to skate program, for over twenty years.

Growing up in Waterloo, Anne also played elite level softball and high school basketball.

Anne is currently coordinating Waterloo Ringette’s fundamental program.

Anne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Western Ontario and an L.L.B. from the University of Ottawa.

Anne practiced law in the K-W region for ten years and then “retired” from the profession two years ago to stay at home, on a full time basis, with her three children, ages six, four and two. Coaching young children is something that Anne really enjoys doing in her spare time.

Shane Heffernan

Shane has been on skates since he was a 1 year old. He played for both the Waterloo and Kitchener Minor Hockey systems, during which time, he won many individual and team awards. His speed and skill allowed him to lead his Midget AAA team in scoring and to be a part of the Kitchener Dutchmen for some games as a 16 year old.

After his final season of Junior, playing for the Stratford Cullitons, he pursued his pro career in Finland, USA, and the Norway Division 1 League Champions. Shane is currently living in Germany, playing for TEV Meisbach, and working as an on ice hockey trainer.

Aside from playing, Shane has found time to coach youth teams in these countries, even bringing a midget Norweigen team to Toronto last year for a tournament. He runs weekly skills practices, teaching the importance f skating and puck skills. As a certified Can Fit Pro personal trainer, Shane does personal training in the off season. Shane is a strong advocate for fitness, healthy living and working hard both on and off the ice.

He is looking forward to working with dedicated players wanting to improve their skills.

Jason Walsh - Off-Ice Lead Instructor

Jason has been playing hockey his whole life. Starting at the age of 2 playing his minor hockey in British Columbia. Jason moved to Ontario at age13. Finishing his minor hockey career in waterloo he then went on to play Jr. D with the Wellesley Apple Jacks, Jr. B with the Waterloo Siskin’s, Then travelled east to Nova Scotia to play his last 2 years of junior with the Antigonish Bulldogs of the (MJAHL). Returning home Jason went on to play 9 years (8 as captain) with the Sr. A Tavistock Royals. Winning championships with both the Bulldogs and Royals.

Knowing early in life that he had a passion for sports and fitness it’s no surprise that Jason has chosen Personal Training as a career. His background includes Cardiovascular training, Flexibility training, Weight training, Power lifting /Olympic lifting and of course Sport Specific Training.

Jason is looking forward to working with athletes of all ages and skill levels to take their game to the next level. Things have changed drastically over the years. You ask any professional athlete now what they attribute their success and they will tell you a lot of it has to do with the strength and conditioning work that they put in both off and during season.

Will Sibley - Off-Ice Lead Instructor

Will Sibley has been a goalie coach for 6 years now while teaching at various schools around the GTA and K-W area. During his playing career, Sibley started with the Mississauga St Michael's Majors of the OHL for part of the 2007/2008 season, before joining the Waterloo Siskins for 2 seasons and the Listowel Cyclones for his final season in 2010/2011. He finished with a combined record of 43-20-1, with 6 shutouts, a 2.77 GAA, and a .916 Save %. During his time with the Siskins, in the 2008/2009 season Sibley finished with a league lowest GAA of 2.46, and with the highest Save % at .929. He was given the Unsung Hero Award, and was also back-to-back winner of the Best Team Goaltender Award with the team lowest goals against in the Midwestern Conference for both the 2008-09, and 2009-10 campaigns.

Outside of hockey, Will Sibley attends Wilfrid Laurier University where he is pursuing a double major in Psychology and Biology with a research specialist component, and a focus on sport and developmental psychology.

Erol Kahraman - Goalie Training

Erol Kahraman is 29 years old and played his Minor Hockey in Kitchener before playing for the Elmira SugarKings where he was part of the winning team that won the Sutherland Cup. He has spent his last 2 Seasons playing Professional Hockey in Europe and was also the Starting Goalie at the University Winter Olympics in 2011.

He has been a goaltender coach for 12 years and expects a good work ethic from his goaltenders in practise or at a camp.

Erol will also be heading to Sweden and Finland this Summer to work with the IIHF at there Goaltender Camps.

Kyle Helms - On-Ice Instructor

Kyle a grad of Cambridge minor hockey played 1 ½ seasons for coach Kory in Midget AAA before graduating to the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

During his time in Jr. B Kyle was named rookie of the year, most valuable player, played in 2 all-star games, and captained the Winter Hawks to back to back Sutherland Cup championships.

After his final year in Cambridge at the age of 21 Kyle packed his skates and travelled to Germany where he played 3 years in the 2nd division for Landsberg and Ravensburg. His hard work and determination earned him a spot in Germanys top league. Kyle is currently going his third year in the DEL having played one season for Munich and two for Augsburg. Kyle hopes to play a few more seasons in Germany before returning home and starting a full time coaching career.
